Willing Heart

John 6:12

And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.”

“Eight months’ wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” That was Philip’s response when Jesus asked where bread could be purchased to feed 5,000 men plus women and children. It was a crazy question.

Neither the disciples nor the area bakers had the dough for such a picnic. But all Jesus needed was a boy willing to give up his lunch. So he multiplied five loaves and two fish until “everyone as much as they wanted,” and the leftovers filled twelve baskets! It was a crazy miracle.

Today you may feel like that little boy with a bit of lunch. But a willing heart to give what we have is all Jesus wants and all he needs. He will take what you have and turn it into what he needs…with leftovers. Crazy, isn’t it?

Lord Jesus, I have so little to offer you. Thank you for not turning me away. Take what I have and multiply it for your honor. In your name, I pray. Amen.
