Wheat and Weeds

Matthew 13:24-26

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.”

In order to explain the kingdom of heaven, Jesus used several parables—stories to make a spiritual point. In this story a man sowed good seed. Then, another man—his enemy, came and sowed weeds among the wheat.

In this parable Jesus is the sower of the good seed. Satan sows the weeds. The wheat and weeds grow together until harvest time. Then the weeds are cut, bundled, and burned. The wheat is securely gathered.

During our time on this earth believers and non-believers do life together. We work together in our jobs. We attend the same schools. We participate in the same activities. We live in the same neighborhoods and shop at the same stores. But one day there will be a great harvest. Those who know Jesus as their personal Savior will be gathered safely to Him. Those who have rejected Jesus will be separated from God forever. What does the final harvest hold in store for you?

Father, I pray that each person reading this would make sure that they belong to You. I pray each one has trusted in Jesus alone as the only way to have eternal life. Please do Your work. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our Father is separating the wheat from the chaff daily and I just wrote a little piece just about this very same parable. This is well written, concise and on point. THANK YOU!

    GOD BLESS!
