Psalm 63:6-11

On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me. Those who want to kill me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals. But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

Picture a little child with their arms wrapped around their daddy’s neck. They are holding on for dear life. But their arms are not strong enough to hold the weight of their body. As much as they want to hold on, they just don’t have the strength.

Picture a father with his child hanging on. He does not stand disengaged, arms hanging at his side. Rather, he takes his arm and puts it under them. While they are clinging to his neck, he is upholding them with his hand.

What a powerful picture of the Father and His child. We throw our arms around His neck and try our best to hang on. But our arms cannot support the weight of our burdens. We cannot keep our grip in the storm. Discouragement weakens our arms. But the Father’s right hand upholds His child. He supports us. He will never let go. He will never let us fall.

Father, thank you for Your strong right hand that upholds me. Thank You for supporting me when I am losing my grip. Thank You for never letting me fall. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
