The Touch of Jesus

Matthew 9:35-36

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

They were harassed.

Stressed. Distraught. Worried. Pressured. Abused. Pushed aside.

They were helpless.

Stranded. Abandoned. Hungry. Powerless. Weak. Vulnerable.

They were shepherdless.

Lost. Alone. Afraid. Exposed. Deserted. Aimless. Wandering.

JESUS HAD COMPASSION ON THEM.

They were safe.

Relieved. Composed. Comforted. Relaxed. Protected. Included.

They were hopeful.

Rescued. Adopted. Filled. Strengthened. Empowered. Guarded.

They had the Shepherd.

Found. Surrounded. Secure. Sheltered. Claimed. Purposed.

Lord Jesus, thank You for having compassion on me. Thank You for being my Shepherd. Thank You for giving me everything I need to do what You call me to do. In Your name. Amen.
