God never makes a mistake. He never needs a mulligan. He never asks for a do-over. His instruction is impeccable. His plans are perfect. His future for you is flawless. David says it this way.

2 Samuel 22:31

This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Our confidence is in knowing that God shields us as we run to him for refuge in times of trial. But challenging circumstances are not the only way our faith will be exercised and our confidence increased. George Mueller reminds us that the daily reading of God’s flawless Word is essential for learning and experiencing God’s character. Mueller writes:

There is the reading of the Scriptures, that we may by them acquaint ourselves with God as He has revealed Himself in His Word.

Are you able to say, from the acquaintance you have made with God, that He is a lovely Being? If not, let me affectionately entreat you to ask God to bring you to this, that you may admire His gentleness and kindness, that you may be able to say how good He is, and what a delight it is to the heart of God to do good to His children.

Talking Points

  • Ask God to help you read his Word every day (or keep reading his Word every day).
  • Ask God to open your eyes as you read his Word to see his gentleness, kindness, and how good he is.

Father, give me the desire to read your flawless Word and learn that your way is perfect before I need to experience that truth in challenging times. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
