Tell Your Story

Psalm 107:1-9
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

What stories do you tell? The great new restaurant you tried last weekend? The trips you took this past year? The newest gadget that has changed your life? A favorite recipe? Nothing wrong with sharing these but wouldn’t you agree that the redeemed have the greatest story to tell?

The psalmist challenges believers to tell their story. To be “redeemed” means to be purchased from slavery. There was a day when sin had us shackled. Then Jesus came. He set us free! He satisfied our spiritual thirst! He filled our hungry souls “with good things.”

Here’s my challenge: As an application to this portion of the psalm, tell your story to someone God has placed in your life. Tell them about His unfailing love. Tell them how He has changed your life…forever. Tell the thirsty and the hungry that Jesus can satisfy their deepest need. Who needs to hear that God’s love endures forever? Tell them your story.

Father, bring a person into my path who needs to hear about You. Give me the courage to tell my story of how you redeemed me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
