Standing Firm

Matthew 10:21-22

Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

There is nothing like life with Jesus. In Him we find significance, security, acceptance, forgiveness, and empowerment to do what He calls us to do. The work of Jesus on the cross allows us to have an eternal relationship with the living God. But there will be some challenges along the way.

Jesus warns those who follow Him that they may face persecution. Many times in history, trust in Jesus produced tension in families. Family members who followed Christ would be given over to officials to be put to death. During times of persecution, Satan causes great hatred against believers. But Jesus ensures salvation to those who stand firm in His strength.

Some of you reading this are facing persecution right now for your faith in Jesus. Your homes are being threatened. You are having difficulty finding work. Persecutors are telling others to stay away from your businesses. You are under attack. Please know that we are praying for you. We are praying that God will grant you courage and provide you protection. We are praying that you will stand firm. We are praying that God will give you His peace that passes all human understanding.

Father, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing persecution today. Please give them courage and strength. Calm their hearts. Remind them of Your constant presence. Give them everything they need in order to do what You are calling them to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
