Spiritual Fatigue

Job 6:11

What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What prospects, that I should be patient?

These words of Job are often on the lips of those going through difficult times. Loss, grief, and discouragement sap our strength. Hurt drives hope from our hearts. When there is no forecast of a better tomorrow, waiting seems useless.

Maybe you can relate all too well to Job’s questions. You are presently experiencing spiritual fatigue. Hope is lost. With no possible remedy in sight, waiting for God seems to be out of the question. You feel like you need to take matters into your own hands, but you have exhausted all possible solutions.

I don’t say this flippantly. Hang in there! Let’s pray these promises together.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Isaiah 40:29

My soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. He is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:5-6

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

Isaiah 64:4

Father, give strength to the spiritually exhausted today. Deliver an overflowing measure of hope to the hopeless heart. For those who are ready to give up, help them wait for You, as You act on their behalf. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
