Road Rules: Running in the Right Direction

Proverbs 21:21

Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.

Do you want to live a life with deep meaning? Do you want to be rich in the things that count? Do you desire to be respected by others? Today’s passage presents the formula—pursue right living and demonstrate kindness.

Some people run hard and run fast. They live life at a Sydney McLaughlin-like record-setting speed. They climb to the top of their careers like Sir Edmund Hillary scaled Mt. Everest. Watch them go…running…running…running…fast—but after the wrong things. As the old saying goes, many people climb the ladder of success only to find that it is leaning against the wrong building.

So, here’s the question—are you chasing after the right things? Things that will last for eternity. Things that will honor God. Things that will point people to him. If you are not running in the right direction, chances are you’ll end up at the wrong destination.

Father, give us the desire to live life to the fullest and the wisdom to run hard after the things that count in your eyes.

In Christ’s name.

Amen.
