Praise Him

Psalm 148:7-14
Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the LORD.

Need a reason to praise the Lord? This passage gives several praise prompters.

  • When you see the great creatures of the sea on the National Geographic channel…Praise the Lord!
  • When you stand on the beach and look out over the vast ocean…Praise the Lord!
  • When lightning cracks across the sky…Praise the Lord!
  • When rain pounds the earth…Praise the Lord!
  • When each unique snowflake falls from the clouds…Praise the Lord!
  • When the storm clouds roll…Praise the Lord!
  • When you view a grove of fruit trees and a forest of cedars…Praise the Lord!
  • When you observe wild animals with their amazing instincts…Praise the Lord!
  • When you drive by a pasture filled with cattle…Praise the Lord!
  • When you watch small creatures in their habitat…Praise the Lord!
  • When you look up to see a bird soaring in the sky…Praise the Lord!

Kings and princes, young and old, men and women…all are called to praise the absolute magnificence of the God who is above all things. Look around you! God is at work…God is always at work. Praise the Lord!

Father, don’t let me miss the opportunity to praise You. Help me open my eyes and see Your magnificence and power all around. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
