John 15:5

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 

Unplugged. That’s why my printer wouldn’t work. The cartridges were full enough. The paper was loaded. The thing looked ready to go…and it was…except it was disconnected from the source. Without the source, a printer just takes up space.

Unplugged. That’s why life doesn’t work. We seem to have everything we need for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But that emptiness…inward hunger…just won’t go away. Without the Source, our journey is directionless, and our eternity is pointed in the wrong direction.

Plugged in. That’s the difference. Connection to the Source changes everything. Life flows through the vine to the branches. Allowing the power to flow through obedience produces “much fruit.” Apart from the Source, I “can do nothing”!

Are you plugged in?

Father, thank you for life, now and eternal, that comes through Jesus. Thank you for connecting me to the Vine. Give me the strength and desire to obey so that the power of his resurrected life flows through me today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
