Persistent. Faithful. Joyful.

Matthew 9:27-31

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.

They were persistent. The blind men followed after Jesus begging for mercy. When Jesus went inside, the blind men kept following. Jesus was their only hope and they were not going to miss the opportunity to see again.

They were faithful. Jesus asked them if they believed He was able to heal them. Their answer was short and to the point, “Yes, Lord.” Jesus touched their eyes restoring their sight. Because of Jesus, the blind could see.

They were joyful. Jesus used miracles to authenticate His message. He came to heal spiritually, to restore light to the darkened heart. So He told the men to keep the miracle to themselves. But…they couldn’t help themselves. Their joy because of what Jesus had done was more than they could contain.

Father, I want to be like these two blind men. Help me be persistent in following You, faithful in trusting You, and joyful in Your work. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
