John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Suppose you are caught in a burning building. The fire has caused a fallen ceiling to block the only exit. Try as you might, you cannot escape. You are trapped without hope. Exhausted, you lie on the floor to wait for the inevitable. But then you hear an instrument pounding on the other side of the wall. Muffled voices are yelling for you to respond. Finally, in a daring rescue, a fireman knocks a hole in the wall large enough for you to crawl to safety. “Let’s go,” he calls out through the smoke. “We have to hurry! Follow me!” “Are you kidding me?” you ask. “You only knocked one hole in the wall to get out of here? What kind of a person do you think I am? Only one way out?”

Ridiculous, isn’t it? Caught in a burning building, we would be more than happy to escape through the one hole in the wall. And when safe, we would thank the fireman profusely for risking his life to provide that one way out.

Jesus is the one way to God. He came to provide us with the way to be saved. The skeptics call only one way narrow-minded. Christians call the one way, provided by Jesus dying on the cross, amazing grace.

Lord Jesus, thank you for leaving heaven itself to take on flesh and die as our sacrifice on the cross. Thank you for providing the way to the Father. We are forever thankful! In your name, we pray. Amen.
