Psalm 119:93-96
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.

Have you ever heard comments like these?

When I read the Bible in the morning I have a great day. When I don’t, my day doesn’t go as well—The “Good Luck Charm” Approach.

I read the Bible for knowledge—The “Textbook” Approach.

I have a checklist to make sure I read the Bible everyday—The “To Do List” Approach.

I read an encouraging verse each morning—The “Positive Thinking” Approach.

Why do you read the Bible? Certainly there is nothing inherently wrong with knowledge, discipline, or encouragement, unless…those things saturate your reasoning. God’s Word is His love letter to you. It’s from His heart to yours. It preserves you in a world intent on tearing you down and saves you in a world trying to drag you under.

Father, thank You for preserving me through Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
