Heaven Is for Real

John 14:1-4

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

Heaven is a real existence. It is not a state of mind. Jesus told His disciples that He would come back and take them to be with Him. He said, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” Heaven is for real.

Heaven is a real place. Jesus said, “I am going there to prepare a place for you.” He described heaven in our terminology as a house with many rooms. In The Revelation, John used figures of speech to describe the incomparable magnificence and beauty of our eternal home. Heaven is for real.

Heaven is for real believers. Jesus spoke the words in today’s passage to His disciples, those who believed in Him as the Son of God and trusted in His work on the cross as the only way to have a relationship with God. When they asked how to get to heaven, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Our confidence and certainty are found only in the person of Jesus. The path to eternity is paved by the work of Christ.

Father, thank You for allowing us to know that we belong to Jesus and will spend eternity in heaven. We don’t have to guess, wish, or hope that one day we might go to heaven. Thank You that we can know for sure. In this life, nothing else really matters. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
