Good Gifts

Matthew 7:9-11

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him.

Godly parents love their children. They always want the best for them. They would never hurt or deceive them. They provide good gifts. A rock, instead of bread, would not be given to a hungry child. A snake would not be delivered to a child expecting a fish.

The heavenly Father loves His children. He always gives good gifts. He offers eternity to us free of charge. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins on the cross. Since He did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, “how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).

Ask God for what you need. He loves to hear the requests of His children. He will never trick you, deceive you, or give you something harmful. He will give you what is good . . . when you ask.

Father, I am asking. I am asking that You provide me with Your good gifts. Thank You for the promise that when I ask You will give me exactly what I need to do what You are calling me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
