Genesis 17:1-2

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless.  I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”

Abram was seventy-five years old when God told him to leave his family and “go to the land that I will show you.” That instruction came with the promise that one day Abram would be the father of a great nation. Twenty-four years later, Abram was wondering if he had misunderstood God. His wife, Sarai, was barren, and he had only one son by her handmaiden. Most men, even in Abram’s day, were not starting their families one year shy of the century mark! But then most men in Abram’s day did not walk with God Almighty (El Shaddai).

God Almighty works over and above our circumstance. His power is not limited by nature or norms. What he promises will always come true. God loves to work in what seems to be impossible situations. When something “can’t” happen, God’s power is proven when it does.

I don’t know what your situation is today. Maybe like Abram, you are beginning to feel that God has forgotten you and his promise. You have fallen into that “can’t happen” mindset. Let me remind you that his name is still God Almighty! I can’t promise that he’ll give you everything you want, but I can assure you that he’ll give you everything he promised.

God Almighty, thank you for not giving me everything I want. Thank you for giving me everything you have promised. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
