Job 36:26

Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable.

How can those trapped in a changing world understand the One who never changes?

How can those who measure life by birthdays comprehend the One who has never had one?

How can one who stumbles in sin understand the One who stands in perfection?

How can people who need stepladders to hang pictures on a wall comprehend the One who hung the stars in the sky?

How can those who don’t know what they are going to eat for lunch understand the One who knows what you are going to have for lunch on May 8, 2027, or if you’ll even be needing lunch that day?

How can one who is powerless understand the One who is all-powerful?

How can those who can’t control their two-year-old understand the One who has sovereign control over world leaders?

“Behold, God is great, and we know him not!” The starting point of wisdom is standing in awe of God.

Talking Points

  • Father, I acknowledge your greatness. You are sovereign over all.
  • Help me teach my children of your greatness. Let me start by acknowledging your sovereign control over all things.

Father, we bow before you the incomprehensible God. Although we can’t fully understand you, thank you for revealing all we need to know about you in your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I couldn’t have described God’s bigness, Might and power…any better. The God we serve in truly amazing. My finite mind is blown when I even try to comprehend the layers of who God really is. He is God all by himself, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Who is also my Father…HALLELUJAH!
