Experiencing God’s Goodness

Psalm 145:1-7
A psalm of praise. Of David.

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They tell of the power of your awesome works—and I will proclaim your great deeds. They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

The story of God is settled in Scripture, and He uses people to pass it on. One generation tells the story of God’s greatness to another. We tell the stories of the Bible and we share the experiences of God’s good work in our lives. God give us a story to tell and we should pass it on!

How do you experience the mighty acts of God so that you can pass them on with passion? Here are a few ideas.

  • Share the Gospel with a friend or family member. You will never get over the joy of introducing a person to Christ.
  • Serve at a local mission or shelter. While you are serving find time to hear the stories of those there. When you take the time to serve, God works in your heart in powerful ways.
  • Serve in your local church. Every believer has at least one gift. Use it to serve others.
  • Go on a short-term mission trip. Away from your personal comfort zone you see God at work in new and exciting ways. Every mission trip I take I see God in refreshing ways and am personally stretched.

Father, I want to share impassioned stories about You with my children. Help me combine the truth of Your Word with the passion of real life experiences. Give me stories to tell of the times when You were powerfully at work in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
