Confronting My Fear – Insignificance

The fear of insignificance must be confronted. Positive self-talk won’t do it. A TED talk on individual value will fall short. Only the truth of God’s Word, impressed by God’s Spirit, can move us to find significance. Through the understanding of God’s Word, we switch the focus from who we are to Whose we are.

Today and tomorrow, let’s consider ten Scriptural truths that address the fear of insignificance. These are truths that we need to drive deep into our hearts. Here are the first five.

  1. I am God’s child.
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12-13).
  1. I am a friend of Jesus Christ.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you (John 15:15).
  1. I have been justified.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
  1. I have been bought with a price and belong to God.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
  1. I have been rescued, redeemed, and forgiven.
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14).

Father,
Thank you for the truth of your Word. Thank you that I belong to you, and my significance comes from a relationship with the Creator of the universe. Take my eyes off myself and who I am, to focus on Whose I am. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
