Choosing Chaos or Calm

[expand title=”Devotion Text”]John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Chaos reigns. Terrorists strike again. Thousands of refugees look for a country to accept them. A gunman goes on a shooting spree. Floods sweep through causing devastation. Governments are corrupted.

Chaos reigns. A married couple calls it quits. A family breaks apart. The search for a mate keeps turning up empty. The lump is cancer. The disease spreads. A loved one dies unexpectedly. A parent dies in old age. A friend wounds you. Trust is broken. Disappointment gives way to disillusionment.

Chaos reigns in the world, but not with Jesus. In the midst of the madness, Jesus delivers peace. He is with us. He calms our shaken hearts. He looks us right in the eyes and says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing peace into my heart. Thank You for replacing chaos with calm. Thank You for driving away my fear with Your presence. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Troubled by what’s going on in the world? Let us pray with you. E-mail us at prayer@ronmoore.org.
