Joshua 6:20

So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.

In an amazing miracle God provided a dry pathway through the Jordan River for Israel to enter the promised land. But after the Jordan started flowing again, the people looked up to see the first city on the list to conquer. Jericho! The most fortified city of that day! Right after their victory at the Jordan there was the challenge of Jericho. But…God had a plan…an unorthodox plan. For six days the fighting men of Israel were instructed to walk around the walled city of Jericho one time. On the seventh day they were to walk around the city seven times. After the march the trumpeters were to “sound a loud blast” and all the people were to “give a loud shout.” After that exercise God promised that the wall of Jericho would collapse, and the people could go straight into the city. Israel followed God’s plan and God kept his promise.

Do you have any walls that need to be collapsed in your life? It’s very possible you won’t find a successful strategy online or in a bestselling “How To” book. So, today tell the Expert at breaking down walls, about the things that are standing in your way.

Talking Points

  • Tell God about your walls—those things that seem to be standing in your way of all his promises. Your walls may be physical, relational, financial, emotional, spiritual. Tell God exactly what they are.
  • Tell God you trust him as the One who can break down walls. Ask him to give you the ears to hear his plan and the courage to take the next steps.

Father, I acknowledge you as the One who can break down any walls in my life. Help me to hear and obey you. Allow me to see the walls collapse. And help me continue to trust you throughout the day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
