Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
There is deep within the heart a spiritual hunger. The attempts to fill this need are many. A new relationship. Another relationship. A powerful position. Acquiring something bigger, better, or faster.
There is deep within the heart an “inward famine.” A yearning for something that will finally satisfy. A search for that thing that will quench the longing. A pursuit to grasp the missing part of the soul.
There is deep within the heart a crying need…until we meet Jesus. He is the Bread of Life. He fills the heart with all that it needs. Jesus is what we always wanted and needed. Too bad so many explore all the wrong places. Hey, I have an idea. Do you know someone who is spiritually starving? Why don’t you tell them where to find the Bread.
Lord Jesus, thank you for satisfying our spiritual hunger. Thank you for satisfying our souls. May we always seek the things we need only in you. In your name. Amen.
