All We Need

Mark 8:1-3

During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”

All four Gospels share the story of the day Jesus fed five thousand men, women and children. Matthew and Mark tell of another large crowd feeding. On this particular day, Jesus fed well over four thousand people.

Many had brought their sick to Jesus. For three days He healed the lame, blind, crippled and mute. Some of the people had traveled a long distance to see Him, and had not eaten. He did not want them to “collapse on the way” back home. With seven loaves and a few small fish, He fed the crowd with food left over.

This story is a great reminder that Jesus cares for all our needs. Maybe you have a physical need, a financial need, or an emotional need. Maybe you need a relationship repaired and restored, a friendship renewed and restarted, or the return of a wayward child. Jesus cares. He will always give you exactly what you need to do what He is calling you to do.

Lord Jesus, thank You for doing the greatest work—dying for my sins. And thank You for supplying all my needs according to Your great eternal riches. Help me learn to depend on You in every area of my life. In Your name. Amen.
