A Prayer for the “Hard Pressed”

by | Oct 7, 2018 | Daily Devotion, Psalms | 0 comments

Psalm 118:1-7
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.” Let those who fear the LORD say: “His love endures forever.” When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place. The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.

God’s presence is the game changer. Left to ourselves we are defenseless, there is no protection in sight. But the Lord is with us. He drives away fear. He is on our side giving us just what we need just when we need it.

Use the blanks to personalize the following prayer for someone in your life who is “hard pressed.”

Heavenly Father,

Please be with _______. Help _______ to know that You are with them. Allow _________to feel the peace of Your presence. Give ________ the assurance that You are on their side. Let ______ know that whatever is standing in their way is no match for You.

Take away dread and fear. Help _______ to cast all of their anxiety on You. Remind them that You are the Defeater of every enemy, even the last enemy. Calm the beat of ________ heart. Quiet ________ soul in Your presence.

In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
