Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Real friendship is not conditional. It is not based on give and take but give and give. There are times when love is difficult. There are times when actions make acceptance hard. But a friend loves at all times. A true friend is a safe harbor, a comfortable hiding place.

When your words are short and sharp . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are exhausted . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are excited and want to emote . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you need to blow off some steam . . . a friend loves at all times.

When your actions hurt . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are selfish . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are insensitive . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you forget . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you keep remembering . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are standing tall on the mountain of success . . . a friend loves at all times.

When you are face down in the valley of failure . . . a friend loves at all times.

Thank God for good friends!

Father, thank You for the good friends You have placed in my life. Thank You for people who see beyond my actions and know my heart. Thank You for those I don’t have to be on my best behavior around. Thank You for friends with whom I can be real. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
