Deuteronomy 3:22

Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you.

An act of disobedience had disqualified Moses from leading Israel into the land of promise. As a result, he is encouraging the next generation with the truths that he has personally experienced. That’s the job of every godly leader.

Godly leaders leave more than a business or an inheritance to the next generation. They pass on certain confidence and tenacious trust in God. They know that since God does not change, the way he workes in their lives will continue to be the way he works in the next generation.

When a godly leader has truly lived a life of faith, they can say to those who come after them, “Do not be afraid . . . the Lord your God himself will fight for you.”

Father, give us a vision that outlives us. Give us the wisdom to pass confidence in you to those who come after us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
