[expand title=”Devotion Text”]Joel 2:25
I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten….
Regret is painful. Words we wish could be taken back. Decisions we would like to undo. Actions resulting in unwanted and lasting consequences. For many people, sin has eaten away prime years of their lives.
The prophet Joel described a day of punishment on God’s people. Joel saw a large locust plague and drought that would ravage the land. The army of locusts came in massive numbers to devastate the crops across the country. Many have a comparable situation happen in their lives. Addictions, bad decisions, divorce, abuse, and other sins bring a hoard of consequences. These “locusts” rob us and those we love. Sometimes we wonder if we can ever recover from the days of spiritual ruin.
Maybe you feel that your past sins have robbed you. God promised to “repay” his people “for the years the locusts have eaten.” God graciously desires to bring restoration. The following prayer will guide you in the process of redeeming the years the “locusts” devoured.
Talking to God
Father, I am sorry for my sin against you. I am sorry for the pain my sin has caused others in my life. I desire to turn from my sin and turn back to you. I desire to follow hard after you from this day forward. I have wasted precious years of my life. But please redeem the years the locusts have eaten. I wait on you to do your work in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We would love to know if you prayed that prayer. Email us at prayer@ronmoore.org. We desire to help you on your spiritual journey.
