April 16—Molding Young Hearts with Dr. Cheryl Mack

How can parents provide an environment of spiritual formation for their children at every age and stage? How can we effectively teach them about Jesus? How can we show them how to love Jesus in age-appropriate ways?

Dr. Cheryl Mack served as the Intergeneration Institute Director on the Early Childhood Faculty at the University of Pittsburgh for eight years. She has authored several academic works, and her projects on early childhood development have received national acclaim. Dr. Mack currently serves as a Preschool Consultant, Home School Evaluator, and a conference speaker. She will provide tools to help parents be students of their children and learn about their development, temperament, learning styles, and individual needs with the end goal of helping them become followers of Jesus.

 

April 23—Understanding Gen Z with Tommy Sewall

Gen Z (born from 1996-2012) is the largest generation to date, with approximately 70 million children, teens, and young adults. Studies show that Gen Z is lonely, preferring virtual relationships over real ones. They constantly compare their lives to what they see on social media. Teens 13 to 18-years-old are twice as likely as adults to say they are atheists. Gen Z is experiencing a mental health crisis with an alarming rate of suicide.

Tommy Sewall is a student of the generations, especially Gen Z. He serves as the Director of Word of Life Youth Camps, where he interacts with thousands of teens each year. Tommy will help us understand the mind of Gen Zer’s  and provide ways to effectively share Christ with this generation. 

 

April 30—The Challenges of Technology with Heath Wilson and Joey Odom

Our children have been holding a digital device for as long as they can remember, and they have a hard time putting it down. 90% of teens and adults always have a device within arm’s reach. Families are being robbed of precious time by devices. How can we make needed changes to reclaim meaningful interactive family time?

Heath Wilson and Joey Odom experienced this problem personally and decided to do something about it. They started a tech company that leverages the science of habit formation and motivation design to ensure parents and kids can steward the advantages of technology while reclaiming time for personal interaction and conversations.

 

May 7—How the Sex Talk Has Changed with Hillary Morgan Ferrer

Beginning at a young age, kids are being taught damaging misinformation about sexuality, gender identity, and human biology. How can parents raise their children to understand and value God’s design?

Hillary Morgan Ferrer is a bestselling author and founder of Mama Bear Apologetics. She will help parents understand God’s design for sexuality, identify tactics being used to trick our children into adopting unbiblical views, and teach our children to treat those who hold different views with Christ-like compassion without compromising biblical values.

 

May 14—Leaving a Legacy of Faith with Lindsey Medenwaldt

How can parents teach their children the essential elements of faith? How can we demonstrate through our actions and words the eternal importance of following Jesus? How can we implant the Christian faith into the hearts of our children so they will continue to follow Jesus long after we are gone?

Lindsey Medenwaldt speaks around the country about the basics of apologetics, worldview, and leaving a legacy of faith. She is the cohost of the popular Mama Bear Apologetics podcast.

 

May 21—Apologetic Engagement for Kids with Amy Davidson

We live in a world where feelings rule the day and determine what we believe. The Gen Z generation will believe or not believe based on their feelings about the message they hear and about the person presenting the message. How do parents help their children move beyond feelings to embrace the truth of God’s Word?

Amy Davidson holds an advanced degree in Christian apologetics from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is a former Air Force veteran turned writer and cohost for the Mama Bear Apologetics podcast.

 

May 28—Navigating Sexual Identity at Home with Sue and Andy Cecala

How do parents respond when they learn their child is gay? How does the dynamic of the relationship change? How do you truly love your child without accepting what he or she believes to be their true identity? Is your child and their partner welcome at family events? Do you attend their wedding?

Sue and Andy Cecala had to work through all these questions when their daughter told them that she was a lesbian and eventually married another woman. The Cecalas openly share how they navigated through the relationship with their daughter. They will provide guidelines for parents to prayerfully consider.

 

June 4 and 11—Praying for Your Children with David Colonna (Two-Part Series)

Every parent owns the responsibility to teach their children the essential truths of the Christian faith and show them how to love and follow Jesus. And we know that only God can work in their hearts to initiate a relationship with him and empower them to live for him. On our knees—that’s the most important posture a parent can take.
