Jeremiah 50:20

In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, iniquity shall be sought in Israel, and there shall be none, and sin in Judah, and none shall be found, for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.

Israel rejected God and served lifeless idols. They ignored God’s warnings sent through the prophet, Jeremiah. God graciously moved to soften their hardened hearts through discipline. But God’s discipline is always for the purpose of repentance and restoration.

God provided complete and clear forgiveness. A search for Israel’s past guilt would be fruitless. None of Israel’s sins could be found. God said, “I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.”

Maybe today the scars of your life show that you have lived far from God. You know the consequences of walking away. You know the regret. But please hear this—there is no sin that God cannot and will not forgive. When you come in true repentance, he forgives and forgets. You can make a search for your guilt, but it will not be found. It’s time to come home and experience God’s great forgiveness and grace.

A Prayer of Return

Father, I have wandered far from you and have the scars to prove it. I am sorry for my sin against you and for the pain I have caused those I love. I want to return to you. I want to be forgiven and restored. I trust in your Word that tells me if I confess my sins, you are faithful and just to forgive me. Thank you for the promise of your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
